Kathy Geris
ARTIST STATEMENT
Pencil, ink and watercolour are my favourite mediums, and I work on site or from photographs.
The challenge of watercolours and the results that can be achieved with them are very enjoyable for me. They provide a constant source of learning.
I try to capture what moves or inspires me and I am fascinated by the play of light and shadows.
Drawing has been a passion of mine since I got a Jon nagy Learn to Draw Kit while in high school,
and I was hooked on watercolours the first time I tried them.
After graduating from Western University, I took occasional courses in drawing and watercolour while raising my family and pursuing my career in administration and bookkeeping.
Instructional art books I accumulated over the years have been a great resource, and now I also access the wealth of You Tube tutorials by professional artists.
I am a member of the Gallery Painting Group of London, the Brush & Palette Club of London and London Urban Sketchers.
